Our sixth community cooperative (BenCom) has been launched at the Scottish wind farm of Assel Valley (25MW), Ayrshire. This initiative enables local inhabitants to invest in the renewable energy business by financing part of the wind farm and receive yearly interest in return over a period of 15 years.
The public share offer launched by the BenCom Assel Valley Community Renewables Society aims to raise £1,000,000 of collective financing. The range of individual investment spans from a minimum of £250 to a maximum of £30,000 with priorities given to individuals living in the local community.
Our partners in this initiative are Energy4All, a major player in the setting up of renewable energy co-operatives in the UK.
This is a way of sharing with locals the financial value generated by our clean energy production. The model is tried and tested and has been in force at some of our other windfarms for more than ten years. This is an initiative we are keen to expand on.
Applications for the Assel Valley wind farm share offer can be made online or by filling in the below application form.
