Carron Valley lies beside the B818, west of Denny in Stirlingshire. The valley is home to the Carron Valley forest on the shores of the Carron Valley reservoir. The forest is dominated by the distinctive peak of the Meikle Bin and Tomtain Hill both of which reward walkers with a panoramic views over the valley and the whole of central Scotland. The valley is approximately 65km square with a population of 322.

The Carron Valley Community Council has created the Valley Renewables Group as a group to maintain a neutral stance with respect to further wind farm development in the Carron Valley. It negotiates on behalf of locals with the wind farm developers to maximise benefits to the Carron Valley Community.

Falck Renewables’ Earlsburn wind farm provides a community benefit funding being administered through Scottish Communities Foundation.
